a)      Summary Narrative
Disposal of e-waste is one of the rapid growing problem in the world. It causes environmental issue and public health issue as well. People nowadays prefer newer one rather the old one because they want to follow the trends today especially in technology that became a necessity of people aside from their basic needs. Some may think it is cheaper to buy a new cellular phone, printer, computer, etc. rather than spending high cost of repairing ad replacing the damages. The distribution of price pushes people to buy new products and with this, it implies more and more disposal of the old ones. Disposal of e- waste or discarded electronic devices causes electronic pollution. Electronic scrap components, contain harmful components such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, or brominated flame retardants. There is also risk in recycling and disposing of e- waste to the health of workers and communities which became landfills of electronic scrap. When computers are burned and put in landfills it creates dioxin that became cancer which we may get through the air we breathe and when the electronics melted down, the chemicals may join into the soil or groundwater and became part of the plant we eat.
b)      Lesson Learned
Technological advancement has a positive and negative effects to human existence. It may help people to become their work much easier and faster especially in everyday living yet electronic waste can harm the environment through burning and increase the risk in human health through the air we breathe and the water/ food we eat.
c)      Suggestions
Electronic waste can lessen through in preventive measures to the consequences of the environment and in health. Handling of e-waste is dangerous because of hazardous chemicals and toxins present in the devices and the way to prevent it is through the manufacturers who have the will to design clean components of devices that are free from chemicals and that have also longer life spans and environmental scientists and technologists should develop electronic, environmental and health friendly that will become an effective treatment for electronic waste.
